The challenge
A specialist lender's quantity-surveyor reports decide whether construction-loan drawdowns are released. Each report was reviewed by hand in 30 to 60 minutes, formats varied from surveyor to surveyor, and the bank needed to show it could adopt agentic AI safely in a regulated setting.
What was built
- A multi-agent workflow covering ingestion, extraction, validation, exception analysis and summary
- Document understanding chosen after standard PDF extraction proved inconsistent across report formats
- Agents that apply the lender's rules, reason over the figures and reconcile them against financial data
- Exception and risk flags, plus a standard, auditable summary for every report
How it was built
- A four-week build and one week of refinement, with a demo every week
- The workflow starts automatically when a report lands in SharePoint
